Culture Club Socks

I am so excited about these new socks. It's finally getting cold enough to wear wool here in the desert, and I have these awesome socks to warm me up. Here's the info:

Yarn: Yarn Pirate Fingering Weight Merino Wool Sock Yarn from Pureknits

Color: Culture Club- Neon Pink, Neon Green, Black, Grey

Pattern: My Own Basic Toe-Up Heel Flap Sock Pattern, made to fit my own feet! I did a cool graduated rib on the cuff.

Needles: US0 2mm Susan Bates Aluminum Double Points

Shoes: Born Meribel Purchased Summer 2006

My new favorite thing is to make socks that match my shoes. I didn't technically buy this yarn to match the shoes, I just happen to like pink and green. It just all worked out.

I made these with a funky rib pattern on the cuff. You can KIND of see it in the photo above, but you can see it even better in this one. I began doing the ribbing in the center of the front of each sock, and then I slowly added the rest of the ribbing around the sock. It made a stairstep type of rib.

I also used my favorite heel again, the toe-up heel flap. Here's a close-up picture of the heel:

It makes a very strong reinforced heel, and you never have to pick up any stitches. You barely do any short rows either. It's genius and I love it.

Sock Yarn

I've been really obsessed with sock yarn lately. The yarn in the picture is from Wollmeise and I plan to make 3 pairs of socks with them! You have to click on the link to the site if you haven't seen it before. I was woo'ed with the Flash Site and I had to buy some. The shipping was fast and reliable, and I'm hooked. I put together this photo from the site, of colors I would like to use in the future:

She dyes a really nice lambswool worsted weight too. I ordered a sample of it and it is freakin' sweet!

In a moment of weakness in November, I put myself on the registration list for the Rockin' Socks Club. Today I received the e-mail saying that registration is open. I am officially registered! I'm excited about getting some awesome skeins of Socks That Rock in new colorways. I also can't wait to see the binder and mini skeins and extra little goodies.

So I'm having a little problem with my blog. I want to switch over to "new blogger" but it won't let me because I am a member of a blog with too many posts or too many members. The blog is Sexy Knitters Club. I already asked to be deleted as a blog member, but I was ignored. I don't want to be a part of that blog anymore, but there's nothing I can do! Does anyone have any advice?

Well, Happy New Year! I hope to blog more this year, knit more this year, and find inspiration from all of you this year.
