i love knitting. knit knit knit.

Socktoberfest Socks 2

As I mentioned in my last post, I finally just finished my Socktoberfest socks. It's a good thing I made them two at a time on two circulars, or else they might have never ended! The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Jungle Stripe. The pattern is my own; the ribbing pattern is adapted from Nicky Epstein's Wide Vertical Eyelet Pattern in her book, Knitting Over the Edge. I used size 1 circular needles to produce a tight knit fabric. I really like tight socks, it seems. Here's another picture of my socks (it's not the greatest representation of the colors, though):

I also have been working on the Fanny Pack from IK Spring 06. I'm using the yarn the pattern called for (Tahki Cotton Classic), in the Lilac color. I'm making it as a 2-person knitalong with my homegirl E. I'm still up to the waist band part:

The stitch pattern makes the band curl, because of the garter and stockinette mix. I had to iron it to make sure that it was all going to be OK. This picture was taken post-ironing. It helped my peace of mind.

A million years ago, I made a reference to my Bulky Cabled Cardigan and I never posted about it since! Well here it is:

The yarn I'm using for the Bulky Cabled Cardigan is Rowan Polar in the Silver Linings color. That picture makes it look like it's almost finished. Here's another picture, with a needle sticking out of the "sleeve."

See the needle there in the corner? Not yet finished indeed! Hopefully I'll finish the knitting part tomorrow. I decided to crochet on all the edges using Rowan Big Wool from the stash. The color is discontinued, but it's a lilac color. It's pretty- I'll post a picture sometime. I'm going to use the crochet crab stitch, because it's the only one I know. It's the one from the Stitch n Bitch book. Basically you pick up each stitch with the crochet hook and then immediately bind it off. I did it on one sleeve already (the one that's finished, of course!) and it's pretty cool.

Here's a picture of the back:

I like the back. It's nifty how the cables face eachother. Before I go, here's another picture of my fun new socks:

Happy Knitting!
